Structural Reason:

In this third pictorial sequence, we are continuing the Rolfing process work completed on the left side, as seen in the first and second pictorial displays, and preparing to balance the ieft and right sides by Rolfing and lengthening the myofascial web of connective tissues that extends along the left front area of the body. This area of connective tissue
joins with the left side of the chest, arm and hand, then the hip, top of the leg, foreleg, ankle, foot and sole of the body.
Benefits:

The immediate benefits will include a further improvement in the noticible depth and quality of breathing by opening the rib cage along the outer edge of the diaphram up to the sternum and the front of the neck.
The reach of the arm will also increase through the opening of the pectoral or chest fascia from the sternum out along the axilla to the arm, forearm, and extending out through the palm of the hand to the tips of the fingers. Now we will Rolf from the chest down to the front of the hip flexors, the iliopsoas, and apply a broad manipulation of the Rolfing technique while the client take a deep breath and lifts the knee so the lower leg and shoulder girdle are now relating more efficiently to each other. The client has connected his Rolfing process throughout his body by combining his extensive movement with his breath.

Rolfing loosens and balances the femoral bone’s hip capsule to allow the leg to swing with greater ease, take pressure off the side of the knee by stretching the iliotibial band, and helps the ankle and foot to achieve greater alignment track straighter when the client walks,
Client Participation:

The client lies on his back with the arm and wrist extended, straight arm behind his head while then extending the leg downward with the heel locked and pushing down. Client adds a deep breath, then twists and rotates the limbs out even further from the hip by locking the wrist and ankle while the Rolfing is applied across the joints and fascia, starting from the front of iliac crest of the hip, stretching along the sides of the ribcage, opening the shoulder and Rolfing along the arm out to the palm. Now go back to the hip and Rolf in the other direction, down from the hip and across the iliotibial band to the knee, then advancing from the side of the lower leg to the ankle, finishing on the sole and toes of the foot.
